Become a Trustee at Nottingham Mencap

“It is amazing to be part of an organisation which cares so much for its staff, service users and volunteers". - Trustee

Nottingham Mencap are looking for volunteer trustees to come and support the organisation. If you have skills and knowledge that could help and drive the organisation forward we would love for you to get in touch with us.

Nottingham Mencap has a long and interesting history, but one where supporting people with a learning disability and/ or autism is at the core. It began with the passion of a few parents who wanted more for their children, where it developed into the medium sized charity you see today, supporting approximately 550 children, young people and adults, 7 days a week within our building and in the community.

You will be joining the organisation at an exciting time. We are a healthy, stable charity and have recently relocated to a state-of-the-art building which is situated in the City Centre. This allows us to continue to run our innovative, person-centred care well into the future.

We are open minded about who we are looking for and understand that a diverse board is a positive one, whether that is gender, age, ethnicity, race, sexuality, or political view. However, as this organisation was developed for people with learning disabilities and autism, it would be a positive if you had some lived experience. That experience may be a family member, friend, colleague, or you may have a learning disability or autism yourself.

If you are interested in joining our team of Trustees, please email Danny Hewis, CEO on dannyhewis@n-mencap.org with a covering letter detailing the reasons why you would like to apply and the skills/ experience you have for the role.

For more information, or for an informal conversation, please call us on 01159 209 524 and speak with Danny.
