Rushcliffe Day Provision
Nottingham Mencap to start a new service in Wilford
We will be opening up a second venue as part of our week day provision for adults with a learning disability. From the 22nd September 2023 the doors will be opening to those who live in and around Rushcliffe.
The County Council informed local providers that there was a need to open a service, as unfortunately the service running in the area was about to close. We are really passionate about making sure that the local needs are met, and so decided that we would look into what was needed and whether we could take the additional work on.
Those that know us, know that we enjoy a challenge, so we decided, after lots of positive discussions with the County Council, meetings with parents, carers and people attending the current venues, that we would go for it. And here we are!
The service will be held at the fantastic St Wilfrid’s Church Hall in Wilford, Rushcliffe, which has recently had a top class renovation to it’s halls and kitchen. It is also set in a beautiful, peaceful location, beside the Trent and a stones throw from the tram.
We will be running a timetable from Monday to Friday, 09:30 - 15:00 and are accepting referrals now.
It’s been a difficult time for the those attending, their families and carers, so we’re really happy to be able to provide a service. We have worked closely with Thera, who ran the service so we have been able to offer roles to those who have expressed a desire to continue working with some of the people they have worked alongside for many years.

Ideas for Wilford!
We’re busy preparing for our new service to start in Wilford and are really keen to work with the community.
So…we are now the proud owners of a double allotment plot! The allotment is 5 minutes walk from the Church Hall and we can’t wait to ‘dig’ in!
